Regional wine exhibition centres, municipal wine cellars, wine shops
Regional “enoteche” (wine exhibition centres) were established by regional law no. 37/80 providing guidelines for their recognition and promotion (art. 3 and 6). In Piedmont, at present, there are ten and together with the 18 “Botteghe del Vino” (Wine shops) – “Cantine Comunali” (Municipal Wine Cellars), they are a very effective means for enhancing and promoting local wine making.

Enoteca Regionale Cavour (Cavour Regional Wine Cellar)
For over 30 years the imposing thirteenth-century castle of Grinzane Cavour _ an important landmark in the Alba district _ has housed the most prestigious of the Piedmontese regional wine cellars, with its rich collection of Piedmontese wines and grappa that are strictly selected by the Order of the Knights of the Truffles and Wines of Alba. This noble building was Count Camillo Benso di Cavour’s residence. Today some of his rooms as well as the ethnographical museum are open to visitors. In the castle there is also a restaurant where you can taste typical Piedmontese dishes. Also, the Grinzane Cavour Prize for literature is held here each year.

Enoteca regionale del Barolo (Regional Barolo wine cellar)
The Barolo wine cellar_ housed in the castle of Barolo, once Marchesi Falletti’s residence _ was established in 1983 by the eleven municipalities of Barolo DOCG production area. It is a prestigious showcase for Barolo wine from various vintages and producers. It is possible to make wine tasting and buy wine. It was just in the cellars of this castle that the first Barolo was made, more than one century ago. Today such cellars house an ethnographical museum and the Marchesi Falletti’s library, that was run by Silvio Pellico.

Cantina Comunale di La Morra (Municipal Wine Cellar of La Morra)
La The Municipal Wine Cellar of La Morra is an association including at present about 50 local wine growers and producers. In the district of La Morra, about 750 hectares are planted with vineyards which produce DOC wines: they account for 35% of the total production of Barolo wine of the 11 municipalities included in the Barolo zone. The municipal wine cellar was established in 1973 with the purpose of promoting and enhancing the image of local wines. It is housed in the eighteenth-century cellars of the Marchese di Barolo’s palace and is run by local producers.
Wines: Barolo, Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Langhe Rosso, and Nebbiolo.
Events: art exhibitions lasting a fortnight (in the exhibition area); wine tasting, dinners, contests.

Cantina Comunale di Castiglione Falletto (Municipal Wine Cellar of Castiglione Falletto)
The Municipal Wine Cellar of Castiglione Falletto _ established in 2003 _ is in the centre of the village, just below the medieval castle, and houses the precious wines from nineteen local producers. It means to be a point of contact between wine producers and the numerous tourists visiting the village, as well as to set value on the local vineyards, which give high quality wines.

Bottega del vino di Novello (Wine shop of Novello)
The “Bottega del Vino” was established in 1988 on the initiative of the municipality of Novello. It is housed in St Sebastiano’s crypt and is a showcase for the best local wines. This association is made up of 42 wine producers; of these, two are cooperatives whose seat is not in Novello, however they have 30 members who grow vines in Novello. The chairman is Silvio Alessandria. Besides promoting local wines, the “Bottega del vino” sets great value on the image of wine growers and producers who have worked from generation to generation, with enthusiasm and a perfect balance between tradition and innovation.

This association was established in 1986 and has 25 members. The chairman is Sergio Germano. In 2000, 12,500 people (7,800 in the first half of 2001) visited the “Bottega del vino” and 2,500 bottles were sold (1,500 in 2001).
